A friend of mine pointed me to this article in Times of India. At the outset, I was amused by the title which read “In India, Even God is helpless”. I was like, that’s so true. But I read through the article and it was so apt and very shocking to see the highest legal organization (the Supreme Court) finding it tough with the Law Makers of India.
The article is about how Governments (both Central and State) don’t want to take action on government officials/ people linked to them exploiting government accommodation facilities like housing, guest house etc. There has been numerous articles and TV news on the same. But seems like government is just unable to do anything with them or make those squatters pay for the misuse.

Heard this from my friend and checked out the websites. Seems like Bangalore is in a bad state today with five to seven blasts(the count as of now - no clear number yet) and few people injured/dead.

Everyone should now be aware of the Petrol and Diesel crisis in Chennai since yesterday. The consignments with petrol and diesel to the bunks have not reached since yesterday afternoon. CNN IBN reported that they are expected before 1 PM today.
While I did not have ‘Ground Zero’ experience, my friend Luke had and this post is an account of his experience.

We at Chennai(South Chennai to be precise) felt Tremors around 5ish today for a couple of times. We could feel the chairs shaking and the overhanging lights having a swing. We rushed downstairs to be safe. Our office is a three-storied building. The first and second floor experienced the tremors but the ground floor colleagues were oblivious to the occurrence. I have not see anyone covering it so far expect this tamil article.
Luke mentioned that there was one reported in Rajasthan today.’
Anyone of you guys out there who felt the same today in Chennai?

Seems like Andaman and Nicobar Islands experienced a more severe one.
Update - July 01 2008
You might have known this by now. The reason for the tremors felt in Chennai was a side effect of what happened in Andaman and Nicobar Islands which measured 6.7 on the Richter Scale.

Well, I first wanted to write about Nokia acquisition of Symbian today but the word seems to have spread like fire. Just yesterday Nokia had acquired Plazes, a Geo-based social networks for an undisclosed amount.
