‘Vetti‘ in Tamil means ‘Useless’. I started messaging a friend of mine and his name is ‘Mr. X’. This is not his real name of course. The outcome is this new series ‘Vetti Times‘
Me: I think you should enter politics…we need people of your class to be running the government
Mr. X: Sure, that sounds like a good idea.
Me: Let’s name your party with an inspirational name. Let’s name it - Desiya Pannadai Katchi (De Pa Ka or DPK)
Mr. X: What does ‘Pannadai’ mean?
Me: It means ‘one who is dirty and doesn’t have anything’
Mr. X: Wow, how inspirational? What shall be the symbol of ‘The Party’?
Me: This is a tough question, Hmmm…How about ‘Water Packet’?
Mr. X: Why ‘Water Packet’?
Me: This party will have its roots in Chennai and since water packets are famous here(pun intended), I think its appropriate.
Mr. X: That’s very touchy…I am sure it will reach the masses, the poor and the down trodden.
Me: sure
Mr. X: What more? any theme song?
Me: Yep, I was waiting for you to ask the question…Theme Song : “Un Kathai Mudiyum Neram Ithu” - to be played in every road side meeting
Mr. X: Sooper Appu
Me: Everybody will be introduced with a ‘Pannadai’ prefix. Like Babu will become ‘Pannadai’ Babu
Mr. X: What next?
Me: Well, we need to go to North India and have a planning session.
Mr. X: Why North India?
Me: Because I have never seen it Grrr…Actually, they say its a very special place to start a new party. Every month a new party or an agitation to start a new state happens there. They have lot of consultants who are experienced in this field.
Mr. X: Ok, lets go
