Yours Truly - Tamizhan To my nephew Aditya
Feb 26

Although I bought the book ‘Getting Things Done‘ by David Allen more than a year ago, I started reading it in all earnestness only of late. I probably am done with a few tens of pages. One thing caught my attention and here it is.

David Allen in GTD says “If the mind reminded people of action to take when it is most appropriate, then things would be a lot easier”. One example he gives is, you being reminded of changing the dead batteries when you pass the store which sells batteries. Instead, if the prompt comes, when the battery is dead, to immediately replace batteries then it is being most productive.

Thinking about it, I felt that there are a number of instances of human beings getting many a thing done without an external impelling force prompting them to attend to the task at hand- some instances worth citing are as follows:

  • Child’s tantrums for chocolates- whether the chocolate is present there providing a visual stimulus
  • Writer’s inspiration when asleep and he is woken up and made to jot it down
  • Unknown angels and their words forcing a channel (Clairvoyant) to write or share the message.

Its about conditioning your Body, Mind and Soul to commit to immediate tangible action, than procrastinating (which is the primary cause for delay and reduced productivity).

While seeing is believing, ‘Getting Things Done’ before thoughts give you the slip that is the most crucial step in achieving! In other words, do not be passive and wait for your thoughts to manifest in the physical plane “eventually” be the mover and shaker in getting things done- right and right on time
