Smile

Posted by & filed under Lesson of the day, Personal Development.

Driving on my bike on a lonely night, I suddenly felt happy. I could feel that my energy levels were rising. I started wondering what could be the reason. Usually you don’t want to analyze the cause of what made you happy as the feeling is something that shouldn’t be rationalized. Happiness is no discovery but a realization. But somehow, that day it got me thinking and I was trying to go to the root cause. What I found was something amazing and the best lesson I have learnt so far.

If you are thinking I am going to talk about Joy or Happiness, then think again…Its but a manifestation of the same. I want to talk about Smile.

It says a thousand words, thanks a million times, assures of ages together but more than that. It infects you with a smile the moment you see them. Have you ever thought how strong this is? Is there anything that can be stronger than smile?

To the people who are smiled at in the morning, it makes their day.

To the people lost in wilderness, it brings them back again.

To the people immersed in adversities, it brings a ray of hope.

To the people caught in traffic, it brings the calmness.

To the people in love, it acknowledges their feelings.

To the angry folks, bring up a smile and see the solution through.

To the expectant mother, it reminds about the bundle in waiting.

As I sit writing this, I start smiling. How many times have we frowned for no simple reason at people being unruly in traffic, at support staff in your office trying to do their job, at security personnel who doesn’t let you through for want of forms and passes, at waiters in a hotel who is having a bad day and bit late on your order? Just think about it.

What does it take to smile? Nothing at all. What does it give in return? The different world with possibilities everywhere! Anything is possible with a smile.

Joy, Happiness, Bliss and all those high sounding words don’t mean much to people who are so engrossed in the roller coaster lifestyles and never ending needs to meet. Then how do you get out of it and get out there where life is full of fun? Smile once in a while.

Have you ever wondered why you so much like a kid or human being until the innocent stage? It’s the smile, the innocence that  it portrays will make any troubled thoughts (of problems or other things) just vanish.

How to start? Just wake up every day, stand in front of the mirror and smile. Smile at people you see (ok, ok, don’t go out of your way and do that – you will only be inviting trouble), smile at the not so important person on the road, smile at the angry neighbor, the traffic police, smile whenever you feel like…and observe the difference it creates within you.

Ok…Now…Smile…..Smile…..Smile…. Do you feel better now? Yes? Keep doing that whenever you want to…there is no expiry date, no overdose, no nothing…Just Smile :-)
